Verified BBS systems include WWIV, WildCat, GAP, GT, DoorWay, all the
various DorInfo.Def systems (EIS-PC, FoReM, OLEcom, QuickBBS, RBBS,
Remote Access, TAG, and TP-Board), 2 A.M., Forum, ModuleX, Phoenix,
RyBBS, Search Light, and Spitfire BBS, Telegard, Opus-CBCS 1.14, and
PCBoard 14.x. Auntie BBS, and PCBoard 12.x are in need of BETA
testing. Please read BBSNOTES.DOC for more information.
Madness 1.14
Tournament Play has been added (see command line option -t), and
highlighting is now available. DESQview and Windows awarenes have
been added. File locking/sharing had been added.
- BBS notes -> MADNESS.EXE -
- general info
This program directly accesses the com port and uses ANSI escape
sequences to update the user's screen. This is the fastest and most
complete BBS version. It will run on all BBS systems that I've tried
The default version does not check the player time, or get the player
name from the BBS. Recommendend time allowed is from 25 to 30 minutes.
For proper installation check BBSINFO.DOC.
You will also need to put MADNESS.INS in the same directory that
MADNESS.EXE is in.
- BBS Info -> Regisration and Trial Run -
You may try before you buy. Please limit your trial period to
a maximum of two months. This game will not self-destruct, and
I won't send the mafia after you, but we are all in this together.
Regisration costs $10. For that price you will get your own
personalized version of the game featuring your registration number
and BBS info. You will also recieve trial versions of all other
games currently available.
- Get to the point -> The game explained -
Detailed instruction are found by playing the game. This game
can not be explained in words. There are 1500 spaces on the screen
and the objective is to clear as many as possible.
- Tournament Mode -
Tournament mode allows all players to play the exact same board. The
board changes monthly. This lets the players compete directly against
each other. Since the game keeps seperate data files for both regular
and tournament mode, you can run both modes at the same time.
Just add "-t" (without the quotes) to the command line. You're all
set. The file MADNESS.TRN will be created. This file will contain
a number from 0 to 65535. This is the board number that is in play.
- Hall of Fames -
The game creates two Hall of Fame files:
MADBHOF.DAT (regular mode)
MADTOUR.DAT (tournament mode)
This contains the Hall of Fame. If you get tired of it, just
delete it and start over. The Hall of Fame contains 24 entries,
the all-time high, last month's 3 best, and this month's top 20.
This is NOT a text file.
MADHOF.TXT (regular mode)
MADTOUR.TXT (tournament mode)
(default names - can be changed - see command line directive /Y)
This file contains the all time high, last months three best, and
the current top ten scores. It is formatted for a one screen
display. Excellent for bulletins, etc...
- That's Not My Table - Tech Talk -
The SysOp accepts all responsibility for this programs implementation.
The Author is not responsible for any damages caused by running these

to TEST the program before opening it up to the public. Make sure
all switches are correct. If you have any technical questions or

If you find another system that this runs on/under that is not
mentioned above, please include that in your regisration. I am
always looking for new systems.
